My favorite season is right around the corner. Fall is so close, y’all, I can taste it. Literally! Octoberfest is already on tap and on sale here in Nashville. Pumpkin Spice Lattes from Starbucks can’t be far behind! That also means fall racing season is about to ramp up. In fact, my training started this week. Today’s Tuesdays on the Run linkup is hosted by April at Run the Great Wide Somewhere, Patty at My No-Guilt Life, and Erika at MCM Mama Runs. Today we are all blogging about our fall race schedules.
Franklin Classic | September 7, 2015
Labor Day is the unofficial start to fall. So let’s kick off the season with a race! This is the 37th running of the annual Franklin Classic. But it is new to me. This race has both a 10K and a 5K. In 2014 Runner’s World called it one of the “Most Unique” 5K races in the country. I am excited to run through historic downtown Franklin, just south of Nashville, and experience it myself.
Life’s a Beach Virtual Run | September 5 – 13, 2015
I have heard a lot about this “virtual race” thing, and I am fascinated by it. You run a race on your own time, your own pace, your own schedule. And you get the bling for doing it! If I am going to run a race, though, and pay a registration fee, I want the the proceeds to go to charity. This race is organized by Will Run for Bling and Charity. This race will benefit Doctors without Borders, an international medical humanitarian organization that provides aid in nearly 60 countries. Plus it’s a beach themed race. It’s a win-win!
St. Henry School Tiger Town 5K | November 7, 2015
This one is an annual fall fundraiser for my daughter’s school. It’s super fun because the kids dress up and the families run together. It’s just a nice way to kick off the holiday season with friends and family.
Zooma Nashville Women’s Half Marathon | November 8, 2015
I love the Princess Half Marathon because there is such a sense of “girl power.” That is why I am excited to run this race. This will be the race I use for my corral placement for the 2016 PHM, so I’m hoping for a PR. It is a different course than the Country Music Half Marathon — much flatter. I am hoping this helps my time. I am also in a training program through Fleet Feet Nashville for this one. Can’t wait!
St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend | December 5, 2015
This one is near and dear to my heart. We lived in Memphis for 11+ years. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital was very close to our home and I passed it nearly every day. It is a great place, y’all. Miracles happen at St. Jude and the research done there helps children with catastrophic illnesses all over the world. I have completed five St. Jude half marathons.
(Possible) Jeff Galloway 13.1 | December 15, 2015
I run intervals. So this race was made for me! Jeff Galloway is an Olympic athlete who has inspired thousands of runners of all fitness levels. He is also the official trainer for runDisney races. I have booked my hotel but haven’t registered for this one yet. I really want to do it, but need to make sure I have the gumption to do it. Stay tuned.
So that’s my fall racing schedule (so far). Are you training for any fall races? Let me know in the comments below.
